View Configuration
Each Moderation View defines filters that determine the items to appear in it and the data fields that are displayed for each item.
Note – To define the buttons that appear in a Moderation View, see Action Mapping. To define the users who can access each Moderation View, see Roles and Permissions and Users. If you would like to totally automate the moderation of your platforms content, then it is not necessary to create Moderation Views because Automated Workflows can automate the trust and safety handling of the items on your platform. Automated workflows can also be used alongside Moderation Views. You may refer to Automated Workflows for more information.
Creating a Moderation View
To create a new Moderation View –
-
Click the Account Settings
button that appears in the top right corner of the Alice T&S page.
-
Select MODERATION CAPABILITIES and then select View Configuration. A list of all the Moderation Views that have been created is displayed. For example, as shown below –
By default, the Moderation – All view is displayed, which shows all the items in your account. This Moderation View cannot be deleted or changed.
- The bottom of this list provides the option to add a new Moderation View, as shown below –
Click the + Add View button. A new view is automatically created with the name New Moderation View –
By default, this new Moderation View is created without any filters. If items are arriving from your platform, these rows of items will immediately start appearing underneath this Moderation View’s name. For example, as shown below –
- Name the Moderation View – To change the name of this new Moderation View, simply type over the words New Moderation View. You can enter any free-text name, such as High Priority Terror Items for a team of moderators that deals with terror-related content.
Defining Moderation View Filters
The Advanced Filters option that appears at the top right enables you to define the criteria that determines which items appear in this Moderation View, such as their Violation Type, Risk Score and so on. A filter consists of a field, an operator and one or more values.
Note – Moderators will not see the filters that you have defined here. They will only be able to further filter the items that these filters allow them to see in their Moderation View.
To define the filters of a Moderation View –
- Click the Advanced Filters
button to display the following –
- Click the All Fields button to display a dropdown menu of data fields supported by the T&S platform (such as Date Created, Entity Type, Description and so on), in addition to the Custom Fields that your organization defined.
For a description of each of these fields, see Item Fields.
Tip! You can type the first letter of a field to determine the values that appear in this dropdown menu. For example, you can type the letter V to find the Violation Types field.
The following is displayed –
- From the middle dropdown menu, select the condition to be applied to the value of the field selected above. The conditions that appear in this dropdown menu are dependent on the field that you selected in the leftmost field described above.
- In the rightmost dropdown menu, enter or select a value. The options that appear in this dropdown menu are dependent on the field and condition that you selected in the two leftmost dropdown menus described above. For example, you can select a type of violation, as shown below –
You can type any part of a value to find it. For example, ter finds all the values that contain the word terrorism, as shown below –
-
Mark the checkboxes of the values to be included in the filter.
-
To define an additional filter, click the + Filter button. Repeat the same as above to add an additional filter that has an AND relationship to the criteria defined above. For example, you can define items that are at high risk, meaning that they have a risk score greater than 80.
Note – By default, each of the criteria that you define has an And relationship between them. Some parameters will display an Or button that you can mark in order to create an Or relationship between them.
Tip! If you are trying to decide which value to put in a Risk Score filter (for example, 80 is shown above), then if the T&S account already shows items, you can scroll through the Moderation – All view in order to see the Risk Score values of various items. This may help you get a feel for the risk value that you should define as a filter, meaning that seeing the Risk Scores of other items may help you decide what Risk Score and above represents a severe enough Risk Score to define as a filter.
- Click the Done button to display the Moderation View populated with items that have been sent to the T&S platform.
Each filter that you define appears as a blue box, as shown below. You can click to delete a filter.
Defining the Item Fields to be Displayed in a Moderation View
The Choose fields to display option enables you to select which columns of data appear in this Moderation View for each item, such as their Violation Type, Risk Score and so on.
Note – These fields define what is shown in the Table View of a Moderation View. The Gallery View of a Moderation View shows a set of fixed pre-defined fields, such as Date Created, # of Views, Violation Category, Risk Score and Status.
To define the columns of a Moderation View –
- Click the Choose fields to display
button to display the following –
By default, the Alice T&S platform is provided with a wide variety of fields to describe your items, which appear under the title PRESET FIELDS. The Alice T&S platform also enables you to add your own fields by defining Custom Fields to be added to your account. These all appear under the title CUSTOM FIELDS.
The Restore Default button restores the default selection of fields to appear in this Moderation View.
